Co-Director of Legislative Strategy

Kurt Couchman is a Co-Director of Legislative Strategy for the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, where he works with Members of Congress and staff to advance sound fiscal policies. Before joining CRFB, he has held government relations positions with a realist foreign policy advocacy organization, a major think tank, and two Pennsylvania corporations.

Kurt has also served three members of Congress, including U.S. Representatives Dave Brat and Justin Amash. He has drafted and built support for two innovative, bipartisan balanced budget amendment proposals and has developed numerous budget reform initiatives. Kurt holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania/Robert E. Cook Honors College and a master’s degree in economics from George Mason University.
